20 Practical

Yes I said Practical not Tactical. 25 Grains of H322 pushing a 32 Grain Vmax at 4080 ft/sec. No more looking for .204 Ruger brass. Necked down .223 Brass to 20 caliber and you have the 20 Practical. No fire forming the brass like the Tactical. Unreal accuracy. Easy build with a doner rifle from Savage. Shillen select match grade bull barrel screws right in to the Savage action. Best group was a .204. First trip to Montana it was deadly on P-dogs. Look this up on the internet " 20 Practical" and read about the rifles being built. My shooting buddy had the same rifle/action build and his is doing the same stuff with Hodgedon Powders.

By the way it can also be built on the AR platform.

Happy shooting !!!

Spent a lot of time in Montana. Had some great shoots. One trip we ended up shooting about 3200 rounds for the both of us. Got rained out a day or two but man o man was it good. Not much left in your neck of the woods. Unless your willing to give up your honey hole to me.;-).

Nice to see you're still kickin !

3200 rounds, 2 guys, good grief!!

Some of the old shot-out dog towns around here are coming back and we've found a couple new ones.
Update. We found 8208 to work in the 20 Practical real well. Keeping velocity at around 4100 ft/sec. with excellent accuracy. I seat the bullets to just off the lands and the powder charge is 25.5 grns. I have now built a second 20 Practical making this the fourth one built in 2 years. 2 for me and 2 for my buddy. Fantastic round for gophers all the way up to badger sized animals. As soon as we get a yote I'll post how it performed.
