5 days of solo elk hunting ended with a late afternoon, last day of the season bull and a grand halt to my three year dry streak. I've had so many close calls and almosts in the three years since I last killed a bull I was really starting to wonder...
It was a 24 hour day and an epic night pack out through dense deadfall etc., pretty much my M.O. as I have yet to pack elk in the daytime... Slept three hours, got up and butchered it all. Tired and happy, time to fire up the grill.
One broadside shot, 278 yards, 180 Accubond handload @ 2575 from a .308 Win.

I saw 6 bull moose on that trip as well, five in the same meadow at once. All of them were good sized, but one was probably the biggest I've ever seen. I've seen a lot of moose in my life, sometimes a dominant bull with a subordinate tagging along, but never 5 bulls at once. Got some low quality phone video.
