Well, I have been chomping at the bit to get out on a nice day and see just what this new rifle that I purchased 2 weeks ago could do, the Weatherby Vangard in .25-06. I mounted a Leupold VXII 3-9X40 scope on it and reloaded a few rounds for it and off I went this morning.
The first two shots with factory Hornady ammo shooting a 117 grain Interlock were a little high and to the right, I adjusted. The next two were lower and close to the center. The next four shots were about 2 inches high and right on the line. So I pulled out my reloads.
The first three Barnes 115 grain TTX bullets and 51 grains of RL-22 printed 2 inches high and 1/2 inch right. The next one went the same place the next two out of a quickly warming barrel were just off of the center line. The last three were shooting 52 grains of RL-22. Now to reload a few more rounds and to see if the fliers were from a hot barrel or a faster speed.
I tried to get a velocity on all of them but the stars were not aligned and my chronograph was not reading them for some reason and I didn't have another firearm to check it with. The published velocity for the Hornady 117 gr Interlock is 2900fps, the Barnes manual list the 52 grain load of RL-22 at around 3043fps for a 52.5 grain load so that 52 grain one should be around 3000fps.
