I am ordering a Savage model 12 LRP in 6.5 creedmoor. Anyone have any recipes for this that I should start with? I appreciate any help.

I like the combination of RL-17 and 130-140 grain bullets. Be prepared to be blown away by this cartridge. I am just finishing helping a friend with the same gun and he is shooting sub 1" groups at 300 yards with RL-17 and 140 Berger Hybrid's.---------SS

Thanks guys! I have read that many really like the Amax, which cant be found anywhere, nor can the Bergers, but it seemed like Gunnies had some last trip down there. Then to find RL17, I have 15 and 19...Thanks again!

Just for future reference here is some info from the Long Range Shooters of UT FB page: From Justin
140g bullet. Pick one they are all good. Barnes Burners and Berger Hybrids (what I use) are both probably the "best" in my opinion. H4350 or IMR4350 is the benchmark for the 6.5 CM. 41.1-41.3gr is what most guys are running 2720-2750pfs (RL17 is more accessible and does a great job). Also dont put 43gr of powder in your LRP yes they go fast and are very accurate but you will get poor brass life the primers will just fall out of the case.

Springville shooter is this the style savage rifle your talking about View attachment 32466
Not in this particular case....but another friend of mine who is a guide in Nevada has the one pictured and he absolutely loves it. I'm not sure what load he is using but he often hands it to clients who are perpetually missing with their super duper magnums only to have them make nice shots and clean kills on some pretty humongous Nevada muleys and sheep. Personally, I would like to own the lightweight hunter. For heavy bench guns, I will stick to 6MM as it is my preferred caliber for paper punching. Add the hunting element and the 6.5 Creedmore might be the perfect choice.--------SS

I picked up my rifle last week and finally got the dies this week and got it out to test yesterday. I went with what I read on the FB long range shooters of Utah recipe of:
IMR4350 43.2 grains resulting in a mean velocity of 2,727.
COAL was only 2.729 (0.015 off of the lands), which is .106 short of Nosler's listed COAL 2.835.
I liked the results of .31" three shot group at 100, best I have ever seen and that was the first time I have ever shot it. the machine is the Savage 12 LRP 26" barrel, hornady brass, CCI primer and Barnes match Burners 140 grain. That was with the 20MOA base on backwards, so this time I may even be able to get it in the middle of the target instead of on the edge. Pretty impressive so far.
