i was at home depot today and asked about self-etching primer. the guy at the paint counter said they didn't but he said that rustoliums bare metel primer was just as good. does anybody have any experince with this, if it is good stuff or not???
You will find the etching primer at any store that sells auto paint. Home Depot is likely NOT the place to look. Try the auto part stores such as Checker Auto, NAPA, Pep Boys, etc.
For self-etching primer, you really ought to check out any auto paint store. Before I have painted any of my boats, I clean them with acetone, wipe them down with vinegar and then prime with self-etching primer from Ogden Paint and Glass. The vinegar is supposed to begin the etching process. I'm no expert, but my paint stays on.
