I've been wondering about Baker Reservoir lately, first off because it is close to home, and also because I've heard that there are some big Browns in there. However, I've never actually heard of anyone catching them so I don't know if it would really be worth my time to try and catch them. I know it's stocked with catchable Rainbows but I'm not really into that.

I'm just looking ahead to my Christmas break, and I might give it a try if I think it's worth it.
If anyone has any info about Baker that they'd be willing to share, I'd really appreciate it!

ive lived 5 minutes away from it ever since it got drained and it has never recovered IMO. as far as big browns when they drained it there were quite a few dead on the sand but i dont think their are many right now. the days of big browns are like the days of largemouths in that reservoir...gone. but who knows it may pick up someday.

i wish i could offer you suggestions on where else to fish down their but during the winter i snowboard and tie flies for next season (mainly because cedar breaks is frozen). quail might be your only chance at getting into some trout, as the bass fishing slows in the winter.

Thanks guys. That's kind of what I was afraid of. I might head out there anyway just for the hell of it, but it looks like Quail is my best bet this Winter.

i'm here to tell you that there are some really nice browns in baker and i catch them quite often. just a few months ago i went there and caught a 19" brown that was very healthy. i've caught some that were up to 22" (last year) and about five years ago i had one that i'm betting was around 23-24", a real monster, but he got off right before i could get him to the shore and measure him. the key to baker is knowing what to use, if you're catching planters you probably won't catch the big browns. if you're going for the big browns you probably won't catch any planters, in fact you might only catch one fish the whole time that you're there, but it will be a big brown!

That's really good to know! Thanks for that info. If you'd be willing to share what you've had success using to catch those Browns it would be really helpful. I would much rather head out there and catch one really nice Brown than a bunch of planter Rainbows. Feel free to sent me a PM. I'd really appreciate it man.

Those burgers, fries, and onion rings weren't by chance from a place called the 'Veyo Merc', were they?

LOAH--
For some odd reason I think I know what you're thinking.
