Don't know

I hunted for years with the manager of Ogden Bay WMA (Val Bachman) and asked him one time about how to tell the difference with hens. He smiled and said that even most biologists struggle with that question. If they are very difficult for trained professionals to tell apart, it's a cinch that us common folks can't. He also said that 99.9% of what locals think are blue wing hens are actually cinnamon teal hens. Blue wings are heading south early - like late August/early September. There is almost a zero chance that you will ever see or shoot a blue wing teal this far north during the normal waterfowl season. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No.

Looking at the bill shape in your pictures would tend to indicate cinnamon teal. Hard to say for sure because you don't show the bill looking down on the top of it. But the side view tends to lean towards a more spatulate shape that is indicative of the cinnamon. Again, even difficult for trained pros to tell for sure. But based on what I know of both species, I'm saying you have some very tasty cinnamon teal hens. Good job on the shooting by the way. :O--O:
