Busted Again

Looks like one of the founders of Muley Freak got busted again. Not sure what it is that makes this guy think he is above the laws. Hopefully he gets the book thrown at him this time.

Hunting on private property where he doesn't have permission seems to be an issue for this guy. It's unfortunate, really, as he cried crocodile tears to the Wildlife Board to try and keep his hunting privileges because he had to provide for his family, and the DWR was making him contemplate suicide by being so mean to him.

He ultimately got his wish and was granted his hunting privileges back, and now just a few years later is busted in a different state doing the exact same thing. Shocker, I tell ya. I'm very shocked. (insert sarcasm tone here)

I watched the board hearing with him here in Utah and part of me felt bad for him, even though it was his own actions and decisions that brought him to that point. I still felt some sympathy for him watching that go down. It's really hard to muster sympathy at this point, but I do feel bad for those around him that this will undoubtedly hurt. If they prove the allegations true, he deserves to get a lifetime ban, among other things.

If people poach for the likes, subscription, and ad revenue (which I actually agree many do), why’d they do it before any of that was available?

So many more deer were killed illegally back in Critter’s day than we could ever dream today. Why’d they do it back then when the likes, subscriptions, and ad revenue weren’t available?

How did I get brought into this Mr. Vanila?
I just figured that every other thread you always have a "back in my day story," so... 😜

I'm certainly not suggesting critter is a poacher or was a poacher. As best as I can tell, there aren't many on the forum that have been hunting longer than Critter. That's why I used his name. I can guarantee there were exponentially more deer killed illegally in in the 1960s than there were in 2022, and that is only counting the ones that were not doing it because their families were starving. We won't even count the ones that legitimately did it because they needed the meat and couldn't, for whatever reason, obtain the proper license.

I know old farmers that have told me stories about how they purposefully gut shot does for decades to reduce deer numbers around their farms. This of course only happened "back in the day."

When we were hunting north of Blanding back in the day (mid 60) a rancher/farmer came up to us and told us to shoot as many deer as we saw. When I first went down there and wasn't able to get a tag or legally pack a rifle there was a 7 deer limit for a single tag in the area.
See?!?!? I knew you'd come through! That is why I used your name. 🤣
