I saw a dude buying a rifle, scope and bullets, from sportmens today. Yes,the day before the opener of the general season deer hunt. If I'm doing my math right, thats not going to give him much time to mount the scope, sight it in, and become comfortable with it before tomorrow morning. This is why I'm an archery hunter. :D Maybe he's just getting an early start for next year.

Scares me a little bit. But the best sales of the year on rifles are happening right now. So if a guys is going to buy one, now is the time to do it. Chances are, if he didn't have the foresight to get a rifle until the day before the hunt, he probably didn't have the foresight to put in for a tag last January. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Whats the difference between him buying a new gun the day before and the rest of the hunters out there pulling their guns out of the closets the day before, blowing the dust of and hitting the woods...

Either way your both going to blow the front leg off or gut shot it.

Uzabow .45 seems to think my avatar is me. So lets just keep him thinking that. I guess it could be me if i lost 100 lbs, Shrunk 8 inches, grew ginormus cans, and wasn't a dude.
Whoever that avatar is, they better be careful they don't catch anything in the string on the release.

Most of those things can be done with a little surgery.

Look how High her release is, and that is still probably just missing the (can we say nipple on this sight?) nipple.

I may have seen you today. I was in Sportsmans buying a rifle, a scope and some bullets......................................................Ok it wasn't me but it doesn't scare me in the least bit. It takes 10 minutes to mount a scope and 1/2 hour to sight it in. It isn't like archery. If your a good shot then your a good shot and I don't see much difference in knowing where the safety is. He'll find it eventually. The triggers are all in the same place and you look through the scope in the same way while pulling the trigger. The only thing that would make me nerveous and even not to bad at that either is if it is the first rifle that he has ever owned or shot.

I just feel bad for the spike or two point at the other end of his gun. He'll never grow into a monster.

Oh...........I'm sorry, did I get us back onto the subject?

Give me a dead rest and I can hit nickels at a 100 yards all day long but I missed two 6 point bull elk last year running through the aspens and tall oak brush. I was standing and shooting free hand, a whole different story. I took this year off with the rifle but the rabbits and yotes better watch out this year because I am going to practice up on those running shots. :D

What scares me is when you go to shop for your vittles and theres the hunters buying cases (as in 5-10) of beer to take hunting. Perhaps hunters is the wrong discription.
Well these type of guys arent hunters. They are drunks. Instead of sitting home getting drunk and have their wife yelling at them when they throw up all over the place and pee their pants they choose to go to the woods where they have a bigger play ground. I hope the people in their camp keep them away from the guns, but just maybe the whole camp is drunk and they are all passed out and 4 of them peed their pants laying their in the dirt and the other soiled himself and he starts to stink so you think he is decaying. Oh but dont forget the beer cans laying all over the ground along with other garbage. One fellow even thought he could crush a can on his head, but he knocked himself out and has a well defined beer can circle on his forehead.

Now were talking of something that actually does scare me.
I was told years ago that the opening weekend of the deer hunt sold more booze than any other time of the year including New Years eve. I don't know how documented that is but I believe it.
