Unrelated but somewhat related:

I recently heard that using mushroom glasses like this Fungeyes Mushroom Hunting Glasses are useful for shed hunting.

anyone else heard this?

It depends on the mushroom, and if you partake of a certain mushroom, prior to the commencement of the hunt. "Far out Man".
Ya need to move over to Colorado, they made possession of them legal. The only problem is that the department that is suppose to regulate them has no idea on how to regulate them.

Unfortunately I would wager few, if any, COs will focus personnel on this at all without reports from the public
DWR is already spread pretty thin. In talking to a friend of mine that is a CO, he basically told me that he doesn't even have the time to start putting any focus on this. That said, he did ask me to let him know if I see anyone out shed hunting.... It'll be totally reliant on the general public. But my guess is shed hunters won't be self reporting other shed hunters.

We as outdoors men and women have always been the DWR's eyes and ears. Most of their poaching cases are either started by someone calling in a violation. Sure they catch a few tag violations by doing road blocks or checks in camps but we are still their eyes and ears.

As for Taxi, and his private property. I believe that the DWR can't really do anything on it if Taxi wants to go out onto it to pick up sheds. But that is my personal opinion, it may be right or it may be wrong. I didn't sleep in a Holiday Express last night.

Which would be where my one criticism would come in: don't create rules you really can't enforce. Just seems to lead to those who pay no heed to the law becoming emboldened. Hopefully I'm wrong on that.

You guys see this? Wouldn't setting up traps in the winter range be as bad as picking up sheds in them as far as the animals are concerned?
Not even close.
To set a trap you go in quick and quiet and leave quick and quiet.
Shed hunters go in and chase the animals around until their antlers fall off from running so much.
If not chasing them around the hunters wander between small herds for hours while the animals are burning up much needed calories.
Also no shouting back and forth “I found one” between ‘crew’ members.
No camera crew setting up multiple tripods for the ‘epic find’.
Hope that helps answer your question?

So is the shed chipped or something? I guess I don't see why you'd even go in and leave a decoy if you're planning on sitting and watching the spot till someone picks it up. Different story if there's a chip in it.
