With all of the seasons having come to an end or finishing shortly, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread of our favorite pictures from the 2022 season.
Here is my favorite, this is my 10-year-old son with the mule deer that I harvested in Montana.

Fall of 2022 held a lot of milestones in the Cake household. These three all shot their first grouse in October, which was a lot of a fun.

And Ava and I crossed her 1,000th wild upland bird together in September in this pic, with a handsome transition plumage male rock ptarmigan (still gotta get him to the taxidermist)

But I also just love the colors of this particular willow ptarmigan retrieve by Ava

And of course, Girlycake's first big game animal on 12/10---and this is hands down my favorite pic of the year:

My “two” picks, and I’ll limit myself at two.

These are the evidence to me that God exists and that he built the mountains for me. Or rather, built me for the mountains… Like many of you, I feel something different up in the mountains. Something I need more of, it’s like a drug!

I lied… This is a Big Game section so to include such, here is another sunset picture of my best buddy and his bull. I filmed the last 5 minutes of this bulls life, and a week later I went and relived it all over on the muzzleloader hunt.
This day was easily in my top 5 life events, that’s coming from an elk hunter… I got footage!!! I’m just being really really unwilling to post it for some reason. Even in my personal life, it’s not a secret but, I think it made me snap.. I think I’m Elk shocked, I still lay awake at night and hear elk bugling and racks cracking and I close my eyes and keep seeing trees fall over as they are fighting..

I can’t tell you how many times Iv watched all the videos and pictures on my tablet and sat in my hallway staring into my “Mormon room” at my elk skull boiled out sitting on the coffee table, then stair at my other elk mount on the wall, then over at the dead space on the other wall…
Sometimes to flush my eyes out, I go look at my Bear rug on the wall but, that’s in the “Mormon room” and I have to walk past the boiled out elk skull to get to it and then I just start triggering all over.
