This is my first time hunting in Utah and I signed up for the dedicated hunter program. I chose the southern tag thinking that all of my family is in Las Vegas and we could find somewhere close to hunt. However they drew a cow tag, bull elk tag and 6 deer tags in Nevada and so they wont be joining me. So I was thinking about hunting the Pahvant Mountains. I was going to enter either from Meadow Or Kanosh. Is this a good deer hunting range. I hear allot about elk but little about deer. Any comments would help

this area is very very steep and rugged the elk herd has taken over the mountain. there are still some deer there i would not try to go up meadow trust me it is a very long hike no roads up to the top. i would either go up Kanosh, filmore, or richfield. the richfield side is the easiest way up. think about going over to the koosherem area i have heard that there are quite a few deer over in that area.

Thanks for the info. In a way the rugged terain sounds exciting. My family has always filled their tags and thats largely due to the fact we like the rugged areas. Less road hunters and bigger animals. Its hard work getting them out but at the end of the day thats all part of the hunt and stories. However hunting around allot of road hunters is good also. We have had success getting off the road 500 or 600 yards and have the road hunters push the animals to us. Never heard of Koosherem before so I'll look it up.
