I remember going to the old Gallenson's on State Street with its crowded, narrow 1-aisle, long store and the smell of old wood, guns, oil and grease. Old guys just b.s-ing, and young guys full of new-found knowledge (and the ego of youth) looking at their first rifle or pistol - that is just the ambiance of what a true gun store should have, but is now long departed.
Those guys would make deals on this and that, and even split up a box of reloading dies if I just wanted one of the set. Try that now!
