So I was able to bag a grouse this weekend with a my 6 year son following behind. He was so excited that he even asked if he could carry it back to the truck. I get back to my truck, where the rest of my family is waiting, and my 10 year old daughter wanted to learn how to gut it. So I had her gut it while I was showing her how. She pulls out all the guts except the heart and lungs and I jokingly asked if she wanted to eat the heart. She replied back with some excitement "yes". So that night we fried up the heart in some rendered elk fat. It tasted a lot better than I thought it would, my son and daughter enjoyed it as well. I guess that means I have to go out and get some more.
