I was hunting with a guy earlier this year. He dropped a hen out on the GSL. I've never seen one here before.

Thanks for the reply spooner, but I can't tell what it is at that angle.

I was a dismal failure in Rhode Island today; no pics of Harlequin ducks.

Billcollector - you may be correct. I've seen 3 Old Squaw Drakes in UT (I was not the lucky one pulling the trigger) but never a hen. We looked at pictures and debated between Harli and Old Squaw for some time. I wish I had a better pic.

I'm back.

Yes guys, you're right, it is a Long-tailed Duck (Old Squaw). They are what many call one of the "sea ducks". An unusual number of Old Squaws have been seen this year, especially around Antelope Island. I seen two at East Canyon Res.

All three species of Scoters have been seen there too. We even had Scoters in Evanston.
