I thought we could start the threads off with some old fashion backstrap. I hunted the Uintas for 6 days unsucessful and then came home and shot this cow eight miles from my house. 18 yard shot with a slick trick head, she made it about 80 yards and piled up. Look at the hole this head made, over 2 inch entrance hole now thats a blood trail!!

North Slope,

I was just wondering what you meant by unsuccessful? I'm sure you saw some elk up there? Or maybe you didn't. Or maybe you just weren't presented with a shot? I just love hearing about trips up there.

I am shooting a slick trick 100 grain broadhead. It is a fixed 4 blade with a 1 1/8 cutting diameter this was the first animal I shot with this head and I can tell you I will be using them again!! I saw some cows and spikes quite often in the Uintas, I called in a nice 5 point bull but he hung up at 100 yards and went down wind and busted me. My buddy was in on a 6 point bull but was hunting with a recurve and passed on a 40 yard broadside shot (I told him to bring his compound!) I had a good elk hunt this year I can't complain. Got backstrap??
