So my buddies bailed on me Sunday and I ended up out on a solo morning hunt. 20 minutes before shooting time I had 15-20 ducks in the decoys. Waiting impatiently to shoot I had a duck locked up coming into the spread right at shooting time, I stood up shot three times and didn't drop one duck! The ducks continued to work the decoys in good size flocks and within an hour I had six birds in the boat. Knowing I had one duck left to get my limit there was a redhead swinging around the spread, then a flock of mallards flew right above me, I passed on the mallards and with one shot I took down the redhead. As I cleaned up the decoys and picked up this least bird I got my first band in 18 years of hunting waterfowl!
