I had a kid that grew up here that was one of my young men and has now gone off to BYU to get educated and smart. His family doesn't hunt but he decided to get into it while in Utah. He asked if he could come hunt with me last year and it stunk. He came out again to give it another go. I took him Friday night and it wasn't great- killed 4. There were already several thousand birds in the field, so it made for some odd conditions.

Birds were piling into the field, but too far east. We let them hang there so we didn't spook them. They let us hook up the trailer, set up decoys, and walk around. Not too spooky.
Saturday Morning We got there early and set up. My son put some decoys out on the spot above. Birds were working- despite the conditions. Blue bird day, no wind, no matter. Had me, my two boys, their buddy, and this kid. I had to leave early to go ref basketball 30 miles away so I left the boys to their own devices, I took my youngest son home with me because he wanted to go home and do his jobs. (Really hang out with a girl and that didn't work out, he really regretted that decision)

My son limited out quick in the afternoon at this spot, and no one else wanted to leave the comfort of the blind to go with him. They shot at a lot. Missed A LOT. And ended up 4 short of a 5 man limit- it wasn't for lack of trying or opportunities.

That is a lot of cleaning. But worth it.

While life isn't a competition, I find your piles of murder presents often beautifuller.
