La Sal spike/late season results

Any one in here going down to Moab to hunt them elusive spikes to the east? I have the late LE tag down there this fall. I already know where I plan on going opening morning(so I'm not asking for honey holes). I'm interested to see what you muzzy spike hunters are seeing and more specifically how the weather is affecting the animals.

When hunting bear a couple weeks ago, the mature bulls were up very high. I was seeing them at the tops of the mountains.... As in 11,000 feet or higher. They were all herded up. On a good note, they were out in the open... Just a ton of work to get to them. Didn't see a spike on the rifle elk, I know of a couple taken where we were hunting.

I know there was a ton of rain on the general rifle deer hunt so I would suspect a bit of snow up high.

Good luck.
This is what weatherbug is saying for the town of La Sal for next week. Not including a snow storm that's coming through tonight/tomorrow. I'm hoping for a blanket of snow so we can locate them better.

Snow would be great. Should drive them down from the high elevations. Good luck.
I was there last Saturday. There was about 10" of snow on the top of the mountain.
Bump this to the top of the page...... I hope this storm groups them up a bit. This will be the longest 4 days of work in my life. Friday can't get here fast enough. Dreaming of bulls in the snow for weeks now.

I am jealous!

I'll probably put in for this tag next year even though I am a few years out.
If you want to, you can pm me. There was a nice bull in a canyon a week ago, I would be willing to share the canyon. Not sure if he will stay in there or not. But wouldn't be a bad place to check out.
Good luck Tig. I want updates. Hopefully you can find a giant, but most importantly, enjoy the hunt.

Here's some results of our hunt down there. We finished all tags Tuesday afternoon. I new a storm was coming in but got excited to see the bull I Shot. We woke Wednesday to the 8" of snow in camp at 6500 ft. I should have been more patient and waited till Wednesday. We saw A decent amount of elk. We all passed on Bulls. It was a blast to have family in the hills and elk around every day!!!

Cool pictures - thanks for sharing! Looks like you guys had a wonderful hunt!
Wow...that's a lot of elk to haul off a mountain. I'm sure you felt it once the hunt was over. Congrats to all of you!
Way2go!!! That's a hunt to remember itchy.
Great bull... Where on the mountain did you end up taking it?
