Shot this spike yesterday thought I'd share with all you one shot drop heroes. 300 yard shot with .270 shooting federal premium 150 grain nosler partition. 1st shot blew up his heart and exploded the opposite shoulder, 2nd hit just in front of his front shoulder center mass, 3rd was 2 inches in front of his hind quarter again center mass, 4th missed high, and 5th was right at his last rib center mass. All through this the elk either looked at me or wandered forward about 50 yrds before he just tipped over. The bullet was recovered on the opposite side against the hide having done everything it was supposed too expending all its energy on the animal with a solid mushroom and good weight retention. Absolutely the toughest animal I know of.

Sounds like you need more range time. It's ok though. I remember when I was a beginner. congrats on your elk.

HA---NOPE!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Saw the last spike get killed today on HWY 6 .
About 3 pm , Hit by a truck!!!!!!!

Diamond fork turn off...

^^^^ NOPE again, Nebo spike.^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Actually , CWMU Crab creek spike. were I'm hunting elk.
