Hey Guys, I have a cow tag on the South Slope that starts next week. Is the snow deep enough that they will all be down on the Res? Haven't been able to make it up to check the conditions.

My experience, they usually hit the res by 10 am on the first Saturday of October. I can usually find em above during archery but that first day of the rifle hunt really kick starts the migration. Oh how I miss tagging along with my grandpa who had hunting rights on the Indian land.

Both my friend and I were fortunate to tag out. There was a ton of snow up there and we were fortunate to find elk in a few of the accessible pockets of public land. I will say dragging a quartered elk out in waist deep snow on a ice fishing sled is not for the faint of heart. Well worth it though, these late tags are tough but a great way to break up the off season.
