I have a late season tag that starts on Sat 1/14. Hunted this area many times over the years, definitely worn out a few pairs of Hiking boots.
My dilemma, this year is very abnormal with the amount of snow fall. Most, if not all, of the elk are in the low lands on Indian or private.
Big problem is on private they will do damage, anyone have a suggestion where to go or know anyone? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks and be safe out there...

You're absolutely correct - there is LOTS of snow! Another forum member has/had a tag, so hopefully he'll chime in.

The vast majority of the elk will either be on private or tribal lands, like you stated. I'd give the DNR office in Vernal a call and see if they have any landowners contacting them about elk. It's a long shot, but it might work.

I have the same tag, headed up tomorrow with a some buddies who have tags. It will be interesting for sure. Hopefully we can find some on the chunks of public. I will let you know how we do, I am tagging along with them, they have had this tag a lot of the years. So I don't have a ton info or tips, this definitely isn't the typical year.
