Someone has to have gotten into the birds after persistence and scouting in the adverse conditions. So, let's see the pics please.

I've hunted diamond fork, box elder canyon, cherry creek, sabie, nothin but hens so far. I do better during the general season🤣

Found this henned up tom this morning. I had fun getting him to shock gobble. I suspect they'll be at least 3 other hunters after that Tom come opening morning. Snowline has not moved much in the last 3 weeks. None of my normal spring camping areas will be accessible for opening week. Probably won't be accessible tell the end of may. One thing I know for sure, this year is going to be very different.

Took 7 years to draw a tag, 10 minutes to fill It. Not the prettiest bird in the group, but was the only one that would separate from the flock as they walked by us. 8.5” bead and 1” spurs.

If guys haven’t been out the last couple weeks looking around, next Monday is going to be a shocker for them. I predict a lot of confused people on where the birds are and a lot of stuck trucks on the roads that are not gated. There’s still 3’ of snow in places that are usually growing green grass by now.

Just look at all that snow. So deep all the trees and brush around her bird are buried

It sure felt that deep walking in and out of there
I went and checked a couple spots Friday and while the birds were around (not as many as hoped for though), they clammed up as soon as they pitched down. A couple gobbles on the roost and that was it. I couldn’t get a single bird to sound off once on the ground. It was almost like the end of the season and not a week before.

They will pipe up more as they have fewer hens to chase every day that leave them at fly down to go sit on nests. My prediction is may 10-20 are going to be your banger days

In my observations today, I’d say turkey numbers in the area I hunt are looking pretty good! We saw about 15 Tom’s/Jake’s today in close to the same areas as usual. They were roosted a good quarter mile lower in the canyon than last year, but a few were in their normal spot despite the extra snow. Monday ought to be a good time!

Were they roosting and running around in the snowy area or below it? I'm wondering if I need to hunt further up in the snow. I was below it and I think they may have moved out/up.
Well, I spoke too soon! Someone took our spot and opening day we only saw 3 hens. Only heard a few gobbling way off in the distance on private. We saw them in the roost and right below in the early morning. Indeed, it’s a weird year.
You will find that no one has a "spot".

A number of years ago we got to where we wanted to be and found a pop up blind sitting on the edge of the meadow. We just set up on the edge. When the owners of the blind showed up we didn't say a thing but watched them crawl into the blind. You could hear them yelling from 20 miles away when we shot a tom out from under them a short while later.
Oh man! I could only imagine! I think if he wasn’t waving his phone at me or if I had beat him to it we would have done the same! You’ve got a point though. We had a back up location that was dead on arrival. Luckily, I’ve got 2 more days to try to get it done!
Yep - today was a dud. Where birds were last week, not a peep ALL DAY. I’m thinking it got hit hard on the youth hunt and blew the birds out. Not the opener I was hoping for but that is public land for you. Today it’s turkeys 1, humans 0…but we only have to win once!!
