I was flipping through our members and saw a lot of names that I had forgotten.

Some really cool people have passed through here over the years. Some have faded away, others have passed away, and others still post after all these years (you know who you are).

I’ve met quite a few members on this forum and have liked everyone that I’ve met. We may differ in views but they are always good people who just love the outdoors and want the best for the future of Utah’s outdoor activities.

Who are some members that you’ve met or want to meet?

Id love to meet a lot of people. But a few who stand out to me are:

Airborne - he and I have butt heads a couple times but I have tremendous respect for him. The more I read his posts, the more I realize I don’t know much.

Longbow - although he dropped off the forum. Probably because Alaska keeps him pretty entertained.

Lone_Hunter - we share a lot of similar interests

PBH - also very similar interests. He has taught me new things and changed my perspectives.

Chinese Spammers - I really do want to learn more about your neat bot stuff

And there are more.

Who would you like to meet and why?

I met up with Goofy Elk before there was even a internet. I ran into this kid down in the Henry Mountains chasing deer and gave him a ride. Then I ran into him again out in the Book Cliffs wandering around all by himself down in the Rodless area, we ate a grouse together and then both of us were off for the afternoon hunt.

A great person gone way too soon.

I have met two of our members who have passed away. I actually worked with klbzdad for a bit and got to know him well. He was an opinionated old cuss, but aren't we all? I met goofy elk on the Manti once and had a good conversation with him. I was saddened to hear about each one of them passing.

I met bux n dux at the expo a couple years back. He probably doesn't want me letting this little secret out, but he's only a meanie on the forums. He's a real pleasant guy to talk to in person. I met kinekilla at his booth at the expo this year. He was kind enough to share his knowledge with me about how to get your best value per ounce of expo beer. A real prince of a fellow. Speaking of beer, I really feel like I need to choke down a pbr with 3arabians one day. He can tell me all about his 1 arabian he still has and I can tell him about my 1 (also used to be 3) quarterhorse that I don't ever ride, but I feed it and watch it sh!t.

I kind of know Arl...er 2full, but I'm much better acquainted with his kids, nieces and nephews that I grew up with and are all around my age. When I'm up hunting my place I sometimes look out across Crystal and say, "Howdy, 2 full", but I don't think he hears me. Maybe someday I will come across a white chevy on the road and I will flag him down for a chat.

There's this one fringe poster from Alaska that only pops his head in once in awhile. He has tried to lure me to Alaska a time or two and it sounds tempting, but I have an uneasy feeling about it. I legitimately think the guy might be a serial killer or something. I discovered him posting on reddit once, so I'm almost certain he is a Marxist. I'm still trying to feel that one out.

There's a number of guys here I wouldn't mind meeting someday. Even the guys that I have butted heads with because they were too silly to realize that I was right and they were wrong. Maybe by the time league starts I will be brave enough to go link up with Airborne and the other trad guys for some 3d. Maybe if I draw my antelope tag in the next year or two I can talk CPAjeff into going hunting with me. Maybe someday when I'm passing through Evingston I will cross paths with Goob and he can help me perfect my fried possum pecker recipe. If any of you guys in the lower half of Utah County see a portly guy with male pattern baldness in a black 2020 Ram Laramie bitching about traffic and the out of control development, come say hello!

Edit: I forgot to mention I also met .35 Whelen who was kind enough to give me some bear goodies when my wife drew the Manti. I think I still have your turtle food floating around in my garage somewhere. I'll have to see if I can find it and share it with some lucky bear in Idaho this year 😂

I have no doubt having a PBR with CCG would be a good time that would end being the end of that 12er in one sitting.

I met mwscott72 right after I joined the forum. Crazy to think we’ve been buddies for almost 10 years now. Utah big bull took me out for swan a couple years ago and he’s a **** good dude and we’ve stayed in touch.

I never met cake boy but something about him ripping my heart out with his moose draw prank made us good friends. I’ll get up to Alaska someday to meet up and kill some baby critters with him.

I met ridgetop on mwscotts sheep hunt years ago and trigger on a late cow hunt.

Everyone I’ve met in person has been a good dude. I would like to meet cpajeff and talk anything but accounting. Airborne and vanilla would be a riot I’m sure.

Edit- not sure how I forgot to mention Packout here earlier considering I was sitting in the same room as 4 pieces of his work when I made the post.

It’s always a good time dropping off or picking up a critter from him and getting a chance to chat in his shop for awhile.

I've met a couple personally who were very nice to talk to. I can't think of any I wouldn't get together with if the occasion arose. I'm sure I have crossed paths with a few more without knowing it. One that comes to mind is 3 Arabians. I drove by him and his daughter one evening and waved. He was just getting ready to take a picture of his daughter. He later posted it on here and I recognized the setting.

I'm not much of a guy that reaches out to people to meet but don't mind the interaction when it happens.

I met GaryFish one time for lunch (old forum). He was as good of dude as there is. I'd love to meet several folks. Seem like stand up guys.

I remember Epek from the old forum and I think I would like to experience some of those stories they told.

Fact is, my kids are old enough I don't really do stuff with other people very much because my kids are such great company. I do love taking novices out goose hunting so they see more birds in a day than they'd see in a season somewhere else. It's just fun to get out.

If folks are as awesome in person as they are in PMs, there's a lot of great folks around.

I ran into goofyelk a few times on the Snatch back in the day. Met up with hockey once, solid dude. Had Packout do some taxidermy before I moved, and have always enjoyed our conversations on the phone or at his shop. There's a handful of others I've known it run into I'm sure, but my remembory ain't what it used to be. Got a few irons in the fire working to lure me next victims out into the abyss with me so we'll see how that goes.

I met Mr. Cake in AK a few years ago. He was kind enough to let me borrow a fishing net and some bear spray for a week long fishing trip up his way. He tried to share the rona virus with me as well, but I politely declined. Despite what people say, he's a genuinely nice guy. ;)

I've conversed with many of you through PM's, but haven't had the chance to meet in person. Goofy gave me some great advice on a couple different Southern Utah antelope hunts I went on several years ago.

That's right! The deadrop in my yard and you down in the parking lot serenading me as I stood up on my balcony...good times.

I once drove past, honked and waved at "The Goob" as he strolled along 150 picking up trash. He looked a little grouchy but then who would blame him after pickin up other peoples(slobs) garbage and trashing one of Utah's treasures.
Does that count?😀

Some of you may remember the good old fly fishing forum Utah on the Fly. Boy that place was a trip! Mods here would be banning folks daily if the shenanigans often pulled there were pulled here. Through the stream access fights I got to know a large number of members I'd had some serious knock-down, drag it out fights with, and almost universally we became good friends, some of which still to this day.

We need a big fight to unite us and get us all at a Wildlife Board meetings and the legislature so we can meet in big numbers. I shared my experience above because I operate on the idea that just because we argue online, I don't take it personally and I have confidence if I met the vast majority of you, I'd like you. I do have one example of an unnamed member that I have met and I legitimately don't like, so I leave room for the fact that there are some dudes that are just dinks. But by and large, I think most people are good even if I don't agree with them on certain issues.

Of course I've disagreed with plenty of people on this forum, and a few of you I've had some real knockdown, drag-out "discussions" over the years, but there are VERY few that I think would be crusty and unpleasant in person. I'll let you decide for yourself if you are one of the 2-3 that may fit that bill. 😜

PBH and W2U are guys I have fought with on multiple forums, but I have no doubt when we finally have a fishing trip together, we will become fast friends. They are good dudes, even if very wrong about essentially everything. I actually met W2U many years ago without knowing it until years later...at his wedding! 🤣 There are a lot of members here I have wanted to meet up with, and a few of you just recently I was thinking about reaching out to and saying we should do lunch, so this thread is timely.

Why don't we (forum geniuses) have a meet up sometime/someplace for a fishing trip? Have fun, maybe a little wagering on fish size and a great fish fry and swap lies and all. Maybe Utah Lake and do some catfishing?

I forgot all about him. When I first got my Samick Sage recurve I made a long drive up to Willard to spend an afternoon shooting with him and this son "Weasel".
I have met a couple of the guys that are in my area. Would like to meet more of them.
I have known Bowgy for a LONG time. Have met PBH a couple of times.
There is quite a few I would like to meet. But, I'm kind of a loner anymore, just hang out around my place on the hill. I really need to get out more !!

CCG, PM me when your down for your elk hunt next year and we'll meet at the Cinder Pit and have a cold beverage or 2. Compare notes and lie to each other about our hunting prowess

I looked thru some old threads a little while back and saw a lot of names I hadn't seen for a while.
It was very interesting.

I think I'd enjoy meeting DallanC. I've seen about 1,000 amazing life hacks from him on here over the years and I'm sure there are many more. Dude is a legit genius on top of being a skilled outdoorsman.

I've met a number of UWN members. Usually just brief encounters or classified transactions but all seemed to be good, like minded people.
