I fished from deer creek up on Saturday. I'd never fished that stretch before. Caught numerous little planters, a couple of good sized browns and one good sized bow. I also hooked up to a 200 pounder. I was using a lucky craft pointer. I didn't hook him in the mouth... foul hooked him in the hand. The hook was in pretty deep so I decided to keep him. Took a trip to the ER to get it out. I tried on my own, but it was a barbed hook and it went in at a crazy angle where the bone was in the way so I couldn't just push it through the rest of my finger and clip off the end and slide it back out. And yes it was my own hand... Not my greatest moment :?

Ouch!!! It looks as though the hunter became the hunted. Great job on the fish though.

That's gotta hurt. Especially having to lose one of your expensive lucky craft. :lol:

Just kiddin, man. Sorry about your hand. It sounds like you had a good run until then though. Did you start in the reservoir basin and hit the channel all the way up? I've wanted to do that for awhile.

yeah I started at the basin and worked the channel. I always wanted to do it too. Some fly fisherman told me while I was there that there was a type of rainbow that was a fall spawner that should be running up the channel soon. Anyone know anything about fall spawning rainbows... I thought they were spring time spawners??

Anyway, I saved the luckycraft. Just lost the treble hooks and I can put new ones on the split rings no problem. I think my hand is fine... I'll have to hit up a rivier today just to be sure though

I must be a little slow because all I could think is B.S. there are no 200 lb fish in the provo, then I thought maybe his mistyped it a 20LB that would be a site. As I read the post further I figured it out DUH!

Not sure if some spawn in the fall. I wouldn't put it past them. They could also be going after the eggs of the brown trout spawn too. The later would be my guess.

I've actually heard about the fall spawning rainbows before. They're out there. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's where the infamous brownbow came from back in the day.
