Hey Yall,
Somewhat new to the Utah duck scene. I have been hiking the dikes for a few years and this year bought a scanoe and little 5 hp motor to try and get out further. Well, that didn't suffice my itch so looking at getting a bit more legit setup. I am trying to decide between a long tail, short tail, or gator tail motor. I don't have a boat yet but just looking for a used setup, probably take 2 other guys max on the rig. Does anyone have any advice as to what works best out there? I am looking for versatility, I keep watching airboats and would love to consider them but a bit outside my budget of 8k max. Any advice would be great or if you want to go with me this Friday let me know, I am 33 from WI, love to hunt everything, and live in Cottonwood Heights.

Don't get me wrong, the scanoe is a step above the old canoe I had. I just want to be able to have my 3-year-old along and not have to worry she is going to tip or the wife would castrate me fast.
Your 3yr old would have a better chance of falling out then tipping you over. No offense taken to each there own. It all depends on how you hunt and where you hunt. I don't like hunting around the masses I don't need a boat ramp and dikes are just a bump in the road. Have always liked the versatility I have over a bigger boats. We went all the way into South Crystal a couple weeks ago. Good times.
