I decided to cash in my CO deer points last year due to the timing of the seasons and my available vacation time. I wasn’t hunting a top tier unit, so my goal was a 4.5 year old buck. I figured this guy would fit the bill. I was one happy hunter!

All of it. Hiking is terrible without a gun or rod in my hands.

Do you think it was 4.5 years old? Genetic 2 point, super cool. Or a super old deer on the decline. Great mass, that would be a great euro mount if you did it.

His teeth didn't look terribly worn, so I don't think he was old and on the decline. He definitely wasn't going to be a 4x4 ever. I loved the mass and frame, so I didn't care about the lack of tines.
I didn't bring back the whole skull, as I didn't have a way to get it completely clean to take out of the state. If I don't shoot a nicer mule deer in the next 5 to 10 years, I will consider either using a cape off a buck I kill or buying a cape to do a shoulder mount.
Thanks for the kind words guys!
