Hey ya'll! I am pumped to have found this site. I clicked a link from the DWR site a few weeks ago. I cant wait to read all the hunting stories from this years hunt and see photos. I have only been in the beehive state for a few months. We just moved to Riverton.

Not that I can get a tag this late in the game, but what region is the best for the deer hunt?

Welocome BigGameMT,

Welcome to Utah as well. All the hunting regions have good areas though most prefer the southern regions. I actually hunt the northeastern and have the last couple of years. I have hunted in all of the regions except the southern.

I suggest just getting out and driving, get some good maps and take off scouting until you find the type of terrain you prefer to hunt.

I used to live in Billings and I sure missed the hunting. Utah has some good hunting but things are not manage as well as some other states IMO. Looks like you will have plenty of time to look around. Good luck, If you are a bowhunter look east and you will be looking at one of the best mule deer units in the west.

Welcome to Utah. I used to live in Great Falls and miss the hunting dearly. (no pun there but could be). The hunting here is a sliver of Montana. Though, I gotta say, if you can put in for limited entry elk long enough to get enough points to draw a tag, you will be in for the hunt of your life for a huge freaking bull. That said, deer hunting will make you cry compared to what you had in Montana. But welcome to Utah. We have lots of other great stuff here aside from all that. There is enough amazing outdoor stuff to enjoy in Utah to keep a guy busy for a couple lifetimes.
