I have the PS-90 Standard in the olive model with a Trijcon RMR red dot on top.

It shoulders well and has virtually no recoil which my wife appreciates. But I think the trigger leaves a lot to be desired. It isn't light, or crisp. It feels like pulling a leaver to me.

Hornady Bullet Puller

Okay, I wanted to post up a little more that I have learned to help anyone interested in loading for the 5.7x28 FN. But I think this would also be helpful for anyone who is loading a small cartridge like the .22 Hornet and needs to pull a bullet for some reason. Many of you may laugh and say that you already know how to pull a bullet, but I doubt many of you have had to pull one from such a tiny cartridge, so this is why I am posting this up.

Bullet Pulling for the 5.7x28 FN:

The other day I was loading up some new rounds to test out and I over adjusted my die and seated the bullet far to deep. Crap! Well, I did what any reloader would do and pulled out my RCBS Impact Bullet Puller like the one below.

Well, the problem with the impact bullet puller and the 5.7x28 is that the cartridge is far too small in diameter to work with the little adjustable case holder that the puller comes with and when I tried to get the bullet to pop out, the case just flew right on past the case holder and didnt dislodge the bullet to the lease degree.

Now what?

After thinking for a moment, I decided to insert my shell holder from my press and use that instead. So I placed the cartridge in the shell holder, turned it upside down and inserted it into the bullet puller and screwed on the end piece to secure the shell holder. Three firm whacks later, the bullet popped out!

I know this is a silly story, but Im sure many of us have seated a bullet too deep and didnt know how to get the bullet out. So I hope this will save you some time and frustration rather than running out and trying to find a collet bullet puller that could mangle the bullet in the process.

In case you aren't sure how the impact bullet pullers work, here is a video showing one in action. And oddly enough, this guy had the same problem of the bullet popping out of the little adjustable case holder just like I did.

Hope this helps someone one day
I have personally found the Hornady Cam Lock Bullet puller to be the ideal bullet puller for any caliber I throw at it. This includes some larger diameter bullets than .224" (like 9mm) and has no issues with 5.7x28, which I also reload.
You need a separate collet for each caliber, but the same collet pulls both AR bullets and 5.7x28mm. The trick is to get the feel for when it grabs the bullet and not the case (which it can mess up) and the bullet pulls very easily without leaving noticeable marks.
I can pull the bullets from a 50 round box of ammo in minutes. The instructions give you involved setup steps for your press, but I just learned to feel when the round enters the collet and touches the case mouth, back off a hair and clamp the bullet gently while lowering the ram. I can switch from 5.7x28mm to AR 5.56mm (both use .224: bullets) simply by changing the shell holder while using the same collet.
The bullets come out without nasty bruises unless you over clamp them. Once you get the "touch" with this, you will not want to mess with the hammers. I hope this makes your life easier...

Load Data for 5.7 X 28
An acquaintance gave me the following load data: Hornady V Max 40 grain projectile over 6.5 grains of Hodgdon 'Lil' Gun powder. I don't remember if he said to use a small rifle primer or a small pistol primer. Can anyone tell me if this is a safe load? Thank you for your assistance.

Seems Lil' Gun can be used (I use it in my Hornet) but I've never been able to validate a safe load with this powder, so I haven't tried personally.

This caliber is full of internet "professional" know how with very little manufacturer published data. So I'd proceed with caution if you choose to try using Lil Gun.

Most all data calls for small rifle primers, not small pistol.

I know this isn't much help. But I hope I have at least encouraged you to proceed with caution.

I was checking burn rates and it looks like Lil Gun burns slower than True Blue or Blue Dot, so if you decide to try it out, make sure and keep that in account.

Well, after some time of drinking around with this cartridge, I sold my PS-90.

The rifle was really cool looking but I couldn't shoot it accurately enough to really enjoy owning it.

The cartridge itself is pretty nifty in its own right and honestly pretty affordable to reload which made selling it all the harder. But by golly I couldn't shoot it well past 50 yards to save my life unless I was on a bench. The trigger was just too heavy to accurately control.

Perhaps next time I will pick up a 5.7 upper for an AR and see if that does any better.

It looks like a cool alternative to the 22 mag in a T/C Encore
I have thought the same. Plus single shots are cool.

Savage briefly made one in a Model 25 as well.

If I could get this caliber in a bolt action, I'd be one happy varminter.

It's just such a niche cartridge that isn't really that advantageous over the 22 Hornet so I doubt it'll ever catch fire like other cartridges in the varmint class.

I found i had to shave 3,000 off my Lee die to move the shoulder back to where my gun would headspace. I use 5.4 gr true blue powder with 40 gr bullets.
have fun. small rifle primers.
