Yep, a good old round designed by Charles Newton. One problem with it is that it never did fit in. It is my understanding that it is still loaded in Europe as the 5.6x52mmR which is a .227 inch bullet rather than a .223
Like so may high speed rounds of the old days, the bullet was the down fall. Not until well constructed bullets capable of holding together at high velocity did stuff like the 220 swift become a workable hunting round. P.O. wrote extensively about bullet failure at high velocity.
