All of it. Hiking is terrible without a gun or rod in my hands.

I've run across an opportunity to get some really cheap pen raised pheasants. They are really wild as we had the same opportunity last year. We planted and released some birds last year, but had a few run off on us.
This is specifically for dog training purposes and I don't want to have a bird run off on the dog, she is really starting to come on and I want to have controlled, repeated successful opportunities for her.

Someone suggested that I shackle the birds. So they can run a bit, but not completely. So, what is the best way to go about doing this? We tried the spin and ditch method, but the birds didn't move at all or ran completely away last year. Don't want that again this year.

Suggestions?
