I just read a report from a moderator over at BFT.
He stated that the snow is so heavy and deep at Strawberry, that he and a companion fought through heavy slush everywhere they took their snowmobile.
At one point the ice was less than 3" thick, and he fell through the ice, but cought himself before going all the way in.

Please be very careful if you go to Strawberry in the next few days.
We want you to come back home safe and sound!

I can second that. My brother and I got our snowmobile stuck last monday. Luckily we were only 100 yards from the ramp... but, still a pain. Took us an hour to dig out. There is just too much snow for the ice to build up. I read that report too and was not surprised to hear of unsafe ice. Most of the lake is fine, but some spots are iffy. Hopefully it will get real cold and stop snowing for a while. That way the slush layer will freeze and all will be fine. But, in the meantime I'll probably avoid the place. On the plus side, fishing was pretty darn good. We caught 24 slot cutts pretty quickly on radical glow tubes tipped with minnows. Come on cold/clear weather!
