It is always with a mix of both excitement for the coming spring and melancholy that the ice season is over, that I go on (what I suppose to be) my last ice trip of the year.

As I arrive, there are signs that winter is still trying to hang on.

However, in another direction, the bare hills make it obvious that ice out is not far off.

Drilling through 20+ inches of hard ice reminds me that there still is time to ice fish here. I only wished I had some more. (and if I did, the flyfishing is good now too. ;-))

The fishing was not incredible, but the cutts were active enough to allow some decent action and a double figure count. Maybe they want me to come back?

Happy spring everybody. :)
