Sad news: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/todd-black-obituary?id=59459186

I spent many an hour debating wildlife issues with Todd. I can't think of an activity that was ever more educational for me. Todd had considerable "book learning", but his real insight came from his personal experiences and observations. As a result, he had some unique yet scientifically valid perspectives that often influenced management discussions for the better.

May his family and loved ones find peace.

I was saddened to hear of his passing late last week. As a kid I used to be in awe of the footage they captured down on the San Juan and loved to listen to his stories. During college I helped out down there and up in the Logan area with other hunts and chasing sage grouse for research.

One time we were trimming some branches on a tree stand to create some better shooting lanes. I had a branch I needed to chuck down and was concerned it was going to hit his truck. He said it should be fine…. As luck would have it, the end of that branch caught another limb and it drilled the front quarter panel of his truck leaving behind a decent dent. Still feel bad about that one to this day, but he handled it surprisingly well.

He provided a lot of great opportunities for me to get out and enjoy the outdoors for which I am grateful. Sad he passed away so young, he was a good man.

RIP Brother! Prayers and condolences to his family
