I have been seeing a ton of turkeys this year while deer hunting. So I've decided for the first time, to put in for a turkey next year. I've heard they are uping the permits next year. Does anyone know what the success rate state wide will be next year.

Turkey hunting 2008

There will be three seasons starting April 12 and ending May 31.
A limited number of permits for the first two seasons and hunters must hunt in the units they draw. The third part of the season is new for all of us. The third part of the season is 27 days and the number of permits available are doubled for it than are available for the first 2/3 of the season. Hunters are not held to hunt one unit, but can hunt three regions the North, Central and much of the Southern. From what I understand more permits will be available for 2009 if the changes are well received during the 2008 hunt.

I will for sure be putting in for next spring. I have already planned several hunts in Kentucky, Tennessee, Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana for next spring! I am counting the days!
