Oh Judas Priest...here we go again!

My email says the proposed tag numbers are going to be posted in the hunt planner on April 5th-ish. I'll start banging my head against the wall then. I spend way too much time thinking myself into knots on where to put in and what to hunt. It's all fun though!

Yep, I’m waiting until those tag numbers come out…not that it will likely change my choices, but it’s nice that those who choose to do so can make a more informed decision this year.

I am planning on waiting for the permit numbers but now that the apps open I’m not sure my anxiety will let me. Since we now can edit free of charge I may put in and then adjust if permit numbers surprise me.

Yeah, I figure I'll just submit right away and change if I need to. Gives me some peace of mind just knowing I'm in it and I won't have the chance to forget about it later.

2023 apps in the books! Bonus points for elk and sheep for my wife and a Beaver rifle deer application she probably wont draw. She is in good shape for a cow elk hunt this year though with 5 points. I'm mixing it up a little bit for deer and putting in for Manti archery deer and 2 points SHOULD draw it. I'll still hunt Zion for gs archery elk and be able to do some after work hunts close to home for deer! Pine valley muzzy pronghorn that I SHOULD draw and a hail mary for Cache moose. Should have some great hunting this year!

I vented about this during Turkey app season. Most on here said I was overreacting and that it wasn't a big deal.

I disagree with them.

It is a bit of a PITA if you're the one doing all of the applications in the group, but when I helped others do theirs and their groups it did seem pretty easy when others were apart.. What are your thoughts on it?

I did it with a friend and loved it. No need to get together or deal with his sensitive info, and we can each pay separately. Guess I'm in the minority.

I apply for up to 6 people. The new system took something that was really easy and complicated it.

In addition to that, the CC company now gets to charge a transaction fee for each applicant instead of one fee for the whole group.

Ordinarly, i'd put in on the morning of Day 1 of the application period, but I think I'm going to wait tell april too. Morbid curiosity. I calculated my odds at 60% from last years stats, this year, im going to SWAG it at 20% and a garunteed point for next years draw,..... which will probably be at 40 to 50% odds, even with the additional point.

Yep, new application system sucks. Final answer. Lock it in.

Took 6 separate transactions to complete what used to take 1. Had to type in the billing info 6 times, 6 receipts, 6 texts about my card being used, etc.

For a long time it was, and the last few years I’ve tried other Hail Mary premium early rifle unit draws with no success. I’ve made lots of mistakes in my life, but none bigger than my elk hunting plan. I plan to detail this in a thread at a later time. If I could go back 20 years and know the things I know now, it would be different. But alas…here we are!

That's a story I'd like to hear, vanilla. My Utah elk plan is basically quantity over quality. I'll be over 60 before I have 25 points.

My app is in. The tag numbers probably won't affect my choices at this point.

Yeah, I just did a group app with a buddy and it seemed easy enough once he sent me the group number. Admittedly, I think he did most of the work.
