I have been looking for a new camera now for a little while. I cant afford the one I want at this time(cannon rebel XTI :( ), But have narrowed it down to a couple, the Canon PowerShot S5 IS Digital - POWERSHOT-S5-IS, Sony Cyber-Shot Digital - DSC-H7B, and the Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera.

Do any of you guys have any experience with any of these?? Any recommendations for a camera with a good zoom & picture quality in the 300-500 range??

I am mainly looking for a good camera to take wildlife pictures. The old 4x zoom just isnt cutting it any more & would like a camera to be able to take quick snap shots. Do any of you know why some cameras take about 3 seconds to actually take the picture after you hold down the button?? I would like a camera that takes the picture right when I push the button, & can take more than 1 picture within a couple seconds.

Thanks for ANY info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info guys. Riley, Is the camera you got the Fuji 700S? I was looking at that one as well, But they wanted around 600 bucks for it. Thats a awesome deal you got on that if so. I have been using a little pentax 4x zoom 5 mp & it has been a good little pocket camera, But I tried taking a few good pics last weekend at the changing leaves & a few animals, & the pics just arent too clear, so I think its time to upgrade a little to a better zoom & a quicker response time

For some reason mine takes about 2 seconds of holding the button down to take the picture, & then takes about 3 more seconds to reset to take another picture. Mabey its just a setting on there that I havent figured out how to get rid of. Is there a setting to take that function off to where when you push the button, it takes the picture at that second??
