This was my son's last year participating in the youth duck hunt. We were lucky enough to hit our limit in the first 30 minutes. After that, we stuck around for a while hoping some geese would commit—but no luck there.

My boy shot really well (surprisingly!). He got his limit with just 12 shells, which honestly impressed me. The dog did great as well. It was her first hunt of the season, and she retrieved every bird. The few my boy missed were pretty funny. Our dog would just stare at him like she was disappointed, almost shaking her head in disapproval.

All in all, it was a great hunt. We’re pumped for the season ahead. I was surprised on how few of hunters we saw. Not much up North.

I took my 16 year old daughter out, we had a wonderful time, targeting geese mainly as she has never killed one. I was able to get a group to land in the spread and she was able to water swat one and get her first goose which was cool. She went through a box of shells shooting at flying geese and was not able to connect on any others but she scared the he11 out of em! My little gal has so much hunt drive, she absolutely loves hunting but the wing shooting coordination is not there. I love that she sticks with it for the love of the game because her hit ratio on birds is legit like one bird per 50 shots at birds on the wing (upland and waterfowl). I have spent a ton of time with her on clays but it's not clicking. Literally hundreds and hundreds of shells practicing and here we are. I just laugh. I love that her heart is in it and we have a great time together but most birds are safe and that's ok haha. One day it will click and she will be a bird killing machine...maybe :ROFLMAO:
